Louise's Story

For me its personal. My boy girl twins were ragingly ADD growing up. I was terrified as I watched them start to fall behind in second grade. I had no idea what was going on, and then I discovered ADD. The mainstream schooling system was entirely unequipped and unaware of this disorder and no one was having an educated conversation about it. I had to educate myself, and go to bat for my children with no resources and against a community that wanted to hear nothing about it. Over time I found alternative programs, learned to guide my twins in a way that they could hear and understand, and eventually, with the help of others, was able to teach them to advocate for themselves. As a result of being made aware of what was going on with them at an early age, they became comfortable with ADD and began to identify best practices and compensation techniques. They have since learned to master their ADD and have used it to thrive in business, socially and in relationships.
